Making sure all your EFBs have the latest versions of your charts, operations manuals and other content is a critical yet
daunting task. The need to track document revisions and be sure that all your critical documents are up to date and
distributed in a reliable and timely fashion is an important part of any EFB deployment. Fortunately IMS FlightDeck’s
Flightline Ground System (FGS) can manage your EFB content from a central management console and track EFB updates to
ensure compliance. FGS can push updates created on a ground server out to your entire fleet without any user
interaction required on the EFB.
FGS is a complete content management system designed to use update packages to deploy new content to any number of EFBs.
Fleet types within the FGS management console allow EFBs with like content to be managed as a group. Update packages can
deploy charts, documents, application updates and other content out to a fleet of EFBs via a direct network connection or
removable media. Update packages are compressed and encrypted for an efficient and secure transfer between the EFB and
ground server. Best of all if(plane to ground communication is interrupted during the transfer of and update, that
transfer will automatically recover when communications are re-established and pick right back up where it left off.
With an intuitive update package wizard interface, FGS makes building update packages a snap. Once an update package
is applied to a fleet of EFBs the results of these updates are sent back to the ground server so that you can track
EFB content update status from the central console. You can track update status from the ground console based on
fleet type, tail number, EFB position (i.e.: Captain, FO, Cabin) or even serial number.
FGS provides a complete, ground based system for EFB update management and accountability.
